A procession of the faithful with icons on the Sunday of Orthodoxy

From the iconostasis is the “Hodegetria”, or “She who points the way” – with her right hand she points to the Child, drawing the attention of the faithful. The original is said to have been painted by St. Luke the apostle himself.
